This is such a common question that people ask me. Through my personal fitness and health journey as well as working with many different clients I have come to realize that there are a few different ways I can answer this question and depending on the person asking I choose which would be the best for them!
When it comes to weight loss, it is a journey that takes dedication, hard work, and patience. In the big picture I think the answer is that you have to find something you really enjoy doing. So if running is the best way to burn calories and tone up the body (which I must say is a great form of cardio when it comes to weight loss) but you hate doing it, then you won’t. If you like to swim than find a professional that can put together a swimming cardio program that will benefit your goals as much as possible so you will continue doing it. Weight loss is as much a mental game as a physical one, so if your doing exercise just to do it or if you have to drag yourself to get there every time, it will not last and then you will feel as if you have failed. It does no have to be that way if you start out in the right direction.
In saying that I must also say that sometimes there will be things you can add to make the most of your hard work. Strength training is one of these things. Cardio exercise is great for fat loss but what happens after you loose the fat? There is no foundation for your body to reshape it self. This is why strength training is so important when it comes to loosing weight. The more muscle we have the more calories we will burn when we are resting. Also you will be creating a new shape so that when your loose the fat you have a toned or more muscular physique (depending what you like) waiting to be revealed! So why not start a plan today that can help you reach your weight loss goals and enjoy doing it!! Happy Training
